About the home

A family home, licensed for care.

Radiant Living was made from an ordinary house and the belief that older people should be able to grow older among familiar faces.

Who we are

Small by design.

Radiant Living Family Care is a licensed adult family home in southeast Olympia, home to as many as six residents. It is family-operated and family-run — the people who own the home are the people you meet at the door.

An adult family home is a residence, not an institution. Six people share one household, one kitchen, and a caregiver who knows each of them. That scale is the point: it is what lets care stay attentive and personal.

Why we opened Radiant Living

A home we would trust for our own.

We opened Radiant Living because we believe older people deserve to be known. In a large facility, it's easy to fade into the routine. Here, they are known by name.

That belief shapes every choice we make: keeping the household small on purpose, currently holding the DSHS specialty designations for dementia and mental health, and a Washington State Medicaid contract. Continued residency, including through a later Medicaid conversion, remains subject to the residency agreement and the home's ability to safely meet each resident's assessed needs.

Is this the right home?

We are not the right home for everyone, and we would rather say so early. Five questions, an honest answer, and nothing sent anywhere.

Question 1 of 5

Which setting suits them better?

A good fit
Someone who does better in a small, quiet household than a large building
A person living with dementia or memory loss who needs routine and close attention
A person managing a mental health condition who needs stability and calm
Someone needing help with daily activities, mobility, or medications
A family or representative who values direct communication and familiar caregivers

Payment is considered separately from care fit. We consider both private-pay and Medicaid-eligible applicants under the home's written payment policy.

Perhaps not
·Someone who wants the amenities and busy social calendar of a large community
·A person most comfortable with many neighbours and activities each day
·Care needs that require skilled-nursing or hospital-level medical support
·A situation where a much larger staff or specialised equipment is essential

If we are not the right home, we will tell you honestly and help you think about what is.

Licensed, designated, and contracted.

Radiant Living is licensed by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services under chapter 388-76 WAC. The home currently carries DSHS specialty designations for mental health and dementia care, and holds a DSHS Medicaid contract — so residents who begin as private pay and later qualify can remain in place.
