Private Pay & Medicaid
We accept both private pay and Washington State Medicaid — at move-in and over time. One of the hardest worries for a family is what happens when the money runs low. Here, the answer is: you stay.
Radiant Living is licensed by Washington DSHS and holds a current Medicaid contract. We accept private-pay and Medicaid residents at admission, and we support private-pay residents who later need to move to Medicaid funding during their stay.
If a private-pay resident spends down and qualifies for Medicaid, they continue to live here. Converting to Medicaid funding is never, by itself, a basis for discharge.
Before admission we have an honest conversation about how long private pay can realistically be sustained — a good-faith estimate, not account balances. When a move to Medicaid is coming, about four months' (120 days') notice lets us complete the Medicaid application and DSHS CARE assessment without a gap in coverage.
On Medicaid, the DSHS-set daily rate is paid partly by the resident's participation portion (most of their monthly income, minus a personal-needs allowance) and partly by DSHS. We provide an itemized statement each month, and charge nothing beyond the participation portion for Medicaid-covered services.
Wherever possible, a resident who converts to Medicaid stays in the same room. A private room can't be guaranteed on Medicaid, and a shared arrangement may become necessary — but any change comes with reasonable written notice and full attention to the resident's preferences and continuity.
