Dementia care in Olympia at a licensed six-resident adult family home
Radiant Living Family Care currently holds a Washington State DSHS dementia specialty designation. Under Chapter 388-76 WAC, our home provides structured memory care within a calm, predictable six-resident household in southeast Olympia.
Why six residents changes dementia care
Large commercial memory care facilities often house dozens of residents on long corridors. For a person living with Alzheimer's or vascular dementia, large crowds, echoing halls, and rotating shift workers can trigger agitation, disorientation, and anxiety.
In our six-resident adult family home at 5134 James Place SE, sensory overstimulation is minimized naturally. Meals are served at a familiar family table, noise levels remain soft, and caregivers become familiar faces who recognize subtle shifts in mood or routine long before confusion turns into distress.
What our DSHS specialty designation means
- ✓ State-mandated dementia training: Caregivers complete specialized DSHS dementia care curriculum in behavioral redirection and communication.
- ✓ Environmental safety: Single-level layout, secured door alarms, grab bars, and roll-in showers designed to prevent falls and wandering.
- ✓ RN delegation & medication oversight: All medications are securely stored and administered under RN delegation.
- ✓ In-home clinical visits: Primary care and nurse practitioner visits coordinated through Seva Medical.
